New Delhi: Taking a cue from the Haryana and Himachal Pradesh government, the Delhi government has now decided to give more importance to the residents of Delhi while giving jobs in Municipal Corporation of Delhi. The MCD House approved the proposal to this effect.

The MCD Standing Committee on September 14 had given a proposal to give priority to the locals in giving jobs.
When Committee members Gulshan Bhatia, Vijay Prakash Pandey recommended for the proposal, leader of the Opposition Jai Kishan Sharma approved it. The members had argued that despite the availability of local trained candidates, the percentage of unemployment is increasing.

MCD House leader Subhash Arya said, “MCD does not get fund for the developmental work from the consolidated fund of the country. MCD is an autonomous institution. Taking care of the interests of the local people MCD is free to take such decisions.”

Lt. Governor inaugurates meeting hall

The meeting hall of the MCD headquarters in Civic Center was inaugurated by Lt. Governor of Delhi Tejendra Khanna who advised the MCD officials to improve their working style.

He asserted that MCD should aim to provide good public facilities. He even urged the administration to bring transparency in work. Mayor Rajani Abby, leader of the House Subhash Arya, BJP state president Vijender Gupta and MCD Commissioner KS Mehra were also present in the meeting.
