Jammu: In a bid to boost the local economy of tourism industry, Shri Amarnath Shrine Board has decided to increase the number of helicopter seats during the Amarnath Yatra.

The decision to this effect was taken on Wednesday at a meeting held by the Governor and Shri Amarnath Shrine Board Chairman, NN Vohra, with the representatives of Tour and Travel Operators of Jammu And Kashmir.

The meeting also decided that the Board would give a daily quota of 180 helicopter seats to four recognized tour and travel operators, two each from Jammu and Kashmir divisions. In another decision, it was confirmed that 140 seats would be for Baltal-Panjtarni route and 40 for Pahalgam-Panjtarni route.

A meeting will be held next month between Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Board, Raj Kumar Goel, and the representatives of Tour and Travel Operators.
 
Vohra said, “Everyone should work towards the welfare of state. The promotion of tourism will boost the state economy.”
