New Delhi: Even if the stage is all set for political debate on the Lokpal Bill in the Parliament on Tuesday, the provision of reservation in Constitutional body and religion base quota system seem to be sticking points that could delay passing the Bill.

According to Constitutional experts, the government's wisdom in providing 50 percent reservation for SC/ST, OBC, minorities and women in the nine -member body with the idea of empowerment will facilitate complications in its set up. The entire episode raises several questions related to distribution of appointments that falls in reservation category.

Compromising with the right to equality of the Constitution, the Supreme Court had introduced the concept of reservation in a bid to bring social equality and empower weaker sections of the society.

Hence, in such a condition bringing reservation in a proposed Constitutional body like Lokpal is hardly justified. Patna High Court Justice (retd) Fakhruddin said, “The introduction of reservation in Lokpal is a seer misuse of the quota policy.”
