Bollywood films based on political scams,exploitative poiltics, live of politicians and corruptions has always garnered praise and appreciation from the cinelovers.

The film industry has witnessed a number of movies based on political events and politicians. Here is a list of notable Bollywood films based on political drama and satire:



Dirty Politics: The most recently released movie "Dirty Politics" directed by KC Bokadia starring Mallika Sherawat, Om Puri, Naseeruddin Shah, Jackie Shroff, Ashutosh Rana, Atul Kulkarni and Sushant Singh is a mixture of corrupt politics and lecherous politicians that gives you a real taste of Indian politics.



Madras Cafe: The 2013 release film, Directed by Shoojit Sircar was an Indian political espionage thriller starring John Abraham and Nargis Fakhri inlead roles. The film's storyline was set in the late 1980's and early 90's. The movie was praised by the critics and audiences followed by various film awards.



Satyagraha: Another 2013 released movie was a pure hindi political drama directed by Prakash Jha. The movie star cast includes Amitabh Bachchan, Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor, Arjun Rampal in lead roles.Although the movie recieved mixed reviews but did well commercially at the box office.



Raajneeti: The 2010 released political drama film was highly inspired from ' Mahabharata' and 'The Godfather'. Starring Ranbir Kapoor, Arjun Rampal and Katrina Kaif in the lead roles the movie bombed at the box office. The movie earned 143 crores at the box office.



Gulaal: Director Anurag Kashyap's commendable piece of work 'Gulaal' truely featured the struggle of power revolving around politics. The 2009 release was much praised and loved by the audiences.


Sarkar Raj: Released in 2008, the movie was a sequel to 'Sarkar' starring the three star Bachchans together Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan the movie was a hit.Directed by Ram Gopal Verma the movie was all about crime and politics. With the critics appreciation the movie was a commercial success too.
