Jaipur: Following the Rajya Sabha elections, members of the ruling Congress and the Opposition Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) in Rajasthan have girded their loins. Out of the three Rajya Sabha seats for Rajasthan, it is likely that the Congress would get two seats and the BJP has to be content with one seat.

The national spokesperson of the Congress Abhishek Manu Singhvi will be one of the confirmed representatives to the Rajya Sabha. Whereas the Congress state unit president Dr Chandra Bhan and Narendra Budania along with a dozen of other ministers are contending for the remaining seat.

Meanwhile, BJP members are also making efforts to get a place in the Rajya Sabha. The Leader of the Opposition Vasundhra Raje had deliberations with the state unit president Om Prakash Mathur regarding the issue. In the two-hour long meeting on Friday, the leaders discussed about the political scenario of the state.

The main BJP contenders are Ramdas Agarwal, Onkar Singh, Arun Chaturvedi, Lalit kishore Chaturvedi, Manvendra Singh Mahesh Sharma and Najama Heptullah. After March 15 the party leaders will form consensus over the names.
