New Delhi: Delhi Police has decided to file chargesheet against six Delhi University teachers in connection with the Mayapuri radiation case. After investigating the case for 18 months and questioning all the people related to this case, Delhi police has found enough evidence to book six teachers of DU.

These teachers also played a crucial role in selling of Cobalt -60 infused Gamma cell machine, the police sources said.

The police has decided to file the chargesheet on September 2 in the Tees Hazari Court and charge the teachers under Section 24 of the Atomic Energy Act, 1962 Section 304-A (causing death by rash or negligent act) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) along with many other Sections.

Though the police officials have refused to comment on the issue but on the condition of anonymity maintained that all the proceedings have been completed.

Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB) has also sent all the documents essential for the probe.

Meanwhile,questioning of the eight member team constituted for the selling of the Cobalt -60 infused Gamma cell machine, which was kept in one of the rooms of the Department of Chemistry from past 25 years, has also been completed.

It was revealed that after the government decided to increase the seats of the OBCs in the University, it was decided to sell the machine to use the room to accommodate the students.
