Tokyo: Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland defeated Russia's Vera Zvonareva 6-3, 6-2 to win the singles title at the $2.05-million WTA Pan Pacific Open tennis tournament here on Saturday.

The Polish player was initially unable to dominate the court in the match when she faced tactical shots from the Beijing Olympics bronze medallist Vera Zvonareva.

But Radwanska soon lifted her game as her opponent started to make unforced errors. The Polish player gradually rose to control the court and eventually sealed the contest.

Radwanska said it was a tough match, and she had to fight it out in every match enroute to final. The 22-year-old player added she was happy to win the title and wished to come here again next year, Xinhua reported.
