Chennai:  The apex body of Indian export ‘Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO)’ on Saturday reappointed its former President M Rafeeque Ahmed as its new President. 
Ahmed, the Chairman of Farida Group, was FIEO President from 2002 to 2004, FIEO said in a statement.

Prior to his new role, Ahmed was a senior functionary in various industry bodies, including President of the All-India Skin and Hide Tanners and Merchants Association, Chairman of the Footwear Design and Development Institute and Chairman of the Council for Leather Exports.

He is also a member of the All-India Footwear Panel Advisory Committee and also the Founder-Chairman of the Indian Finished Leather Manufacturers Association, it said.

Ahmed, known for his long association with the leather industry, played an important role in promoting and strengthening the export industry in India, it added.
