Kangra: In spite of numerous initiatives to curb the menace of ragging, another incident has come to light at the much-acclaimed National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) here.

The institute has suspended four students in this regard while the college administration has sent a report on the matter to the head office.

NIFT Director Dinesh Kumar Rangra has confirmed the incident.

The incident took place on Dussehra night on October 6 when the accused students tortured some juniors in the name of ragging. The victims lodged a complaint with the NIFT administration after which the anti-ragging cell submitted a report to the administration.

Acting on the complaint, Rangra has suspended four students on the basis of the report. However, the anti-ragging committee has refused to speak on record over the issue.

The accused students had tortured the juniors in the hostel near Kangra post office and in college premises against which 50 victims gave a written complaint to the anti-ragging committee.

Of the four students suspended in the case, two are enrolled in fashion communication and two into fashion technology stream. Two of the accused hail from Haryana while one each from Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.
