The party has so far established 24 such stalls across the district. Congress activists distributed free milk to passersby in paper cups with a picture of party vice-president Rahul Gandhi embossed on it.

Gorakhpur district Congress president Sayyed Jamaal said they have now decided to take on Modi in every possible way.

"For now, Rahul milk would be distributed in Gorakhpur city. We have discussed the issue with block level leaders and very soon 50 litres of milk a day would be distributed at every block," he said.

Congress leaders say their message to the electorate is clear – ‘BJP’s tea is spreading communal poison among the people and even doctors ask you to avoid it. But milk builds health of youths and gives them strength. As tea is not good for health, Modi is not good for the country’s health’.

The district unit refuted charges of copying the BJP’s tea campaign, saying it wants to show that Congressmen are battle ready ahead of the Lok Sabha polls.

Interestingly, the development comes merely a week after the BJP strong man held a ‘Chai Pe Charcha’ campaign and interacted with people at 1,000 places in the country.

Congress, which is looking forward to the response of this initiative, will try to spread the campaign in other parts of Uttar Pradesh in the coming days.
