According to sources, Rahul Gandhi, whose party entered into an alliance with RJD after several twists and turns, is not interested to share the dais with Lalu who has already been to jail in corruption case.

Rahul Gandhi has already stated that the Congress has entered into an alliance with a party and not an individual. In fact Rahul, who is looking to bring in transparency in politics and clean up the system, was not at all in favour of this alliance.

It’s mainly due to this cold attitude of Rahul, Lok Janshakti Party did not go with the Congress and joined hands with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

However, Rahul’s move to bring in transparency and promoting clean politics has taken a backseat. Even if the Congress-RJD alliance is kept aside, there are several other factors, which can provide Opposition an opportunity to throw volleys at Congress.

Due to political compulsions, Rahul Gandhi shared stage with former Maharashtra chief minister Ashok Chavan who is the prime accused in the Adarsh Housing scam.

It needs to be mentioned here that Rahul Gandhi pulled up Prithviraj Chavan-led Maharashtra government for rejecting the Adarsh report, which prompted the state government to have a re-look into the issue.

Lalu’s arrogance angers Congress

The way Lalu Prasad Yadav exhibited arrogance over the issue of coalition and projected Congress in lesser light has also angered Rahul Gandhi.

Rahul’s team believes that Lalu’s public expression of views over certain issues has violated the spirit of coalition politics and the party has took a strong exception to the RJD chief’s ‘lathbandhan’, an aggressive antonym for ‘gathbandan’ (coalition) remark.

Time and again, the RJD president has tried to show that Congress chief Sonia Gandhi is interested to enter into an alliance with his political outfit. Besides, Lalu did not show any generosity towards the seat-sharing issue as well.
