Varanasi: In an unveiled attack on the Mayawati government, Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi, who is on the second day of his visit to eastern UP, said, “Whenever I come to Uttar Pradesh, I get perplexed to see the mess and corruption in the state.”

In his scathing attack on the ruling dispensation in the state, he said, there is no development in the state for the last two decades.

“Why all developments occur in Ambedkar village only?” he asked surprisingly.  However, when a few party workers raised the question on inflation, he preferred to keep silent.

He told the villagers that the money meant for MNREGA is being plundered in the state and added that there is total anarchy in the state.

During evening he visited Vedpur village under Gyanpur Taluka, Chandrapura under Orai and Makadumpur under Bhadohi respectively.

While answering the questions of villagers, he said, “People are not ready to open their mouth against the state government which is putting the future of next generation in jeopardy.” Proper supply of electricity, providing drinking water and connecting villages to roads are the responsibility of the state government but it is sitting idle, he said.
