New Delhi: Cracking the whip on Congress members in Uttar Pradesh, AICC General Secretary Rahul Gandhi slammed the party workers for lack of enthusiasm.

Sensing the importance of the situation, the Congress bigwigs have not only started their preparations but also given a final shape to their visits to the state before the Assembly Polls.
Possibilities are that Gandhi will be on a four-day public interaction campaign to Rohilkhand starting from December 13.

Prior to the campaign, Gandhi would meet the party candidates in Lucknow on December 7. In this meeting, the party In-charge for election campaign Shriprakash Jaiswal will inform him about the various details related to the candidates and the Congress campaign.

On Friday, Jaiswal has already asked for a report from the 10 Zonal In-charge and other senior leaders by December 7.

Significantly, during his Jan Sampark Yatra in the eastern and central districts of Uttar Pradesh, Gandhi sensed the lackadaisical approach of the party workers. In addition, the report submitted by the 10 Zonal In-charges and four Ministers were also not encouraging.

To get a clear picture, Gandhi even discussed the matter with Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh and Shriprakash Jaiswal and decided to caution the party workers.

Coming down heavily upon leaders, he said, “I very well know who is working and who is shying away from the responsibilities.”

It was the result of Rahul’s outburst that all the MPs and Ministers have started preparing their work chart.
