Gandhi, who on Friday lashed out at Narendra Modi-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government for ‘failing’ to control prices, added that violence, divisiveness and hatred have no place in the country.

“The politics of hate must end. Deeply saddened to hear about the clashes in Saharanpur,' said Gandhi.

“Violence, divisiveness and hatred have no place in our country,” he added.

Violent clashes broke out on Saturday between two communities over a land dispute in Saharanpur with the two sides indulging in brick batting and arson, leaving some persons injured and prompting authorities to impose curfew in the district.

Tension prevailed in the district and additional forces have been rushed to bring the situation under control.
