Pilibhit: Blowing the election bugle in the Gandhi versus Gandhi zone, Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday launched scathing attacks on arch rivals Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) in the parliamentary constituency of BJP MP Varun Gandhi.

While addressing a rally, the Congress leader said, “You have seen political parties playing games in the name of religion and caste. These parties end up with hurting the sentiments of common man. Therefore, you must now give the Congress an opportunity to change the face of the state.”

Highlighting the Congress’ contribution in the path of developments, Gandhi said, “Congress is always concerned about the problems of common man. We have brought the world’s biggest employment program ‘MNREGA’ to curb the issue of unemployment in the country.”

He further added that the UPA government has always shown eagerness in providing financial assistance to the states. But Mayawati-led Uttar Pradesh government has always misused the Centre’s funds.

Gandhi asserted that the people of Uttar Pradesh are very laborious. Still they are forced to migrate to other states. “The sole reason behind this is that the Mayawati government is not competent enough to fulfill the basic requirements of the natives,” he alleged.
