New Delhi: Union Railway Minister Dinesh Trivedi leaves for Parliament to present his maiden rail budget.

At 11 pm, Trivedi is likely to table the 81st rail budget on the floor of the house. It remains to be seen whether rail budget will be populist or pragmatic one.

Political observers said that the minister is unlikely to hike passenger fare  the precedents set by  former Railway Minister Lalu Prasad during the United Progressive Alliance-I.

Safety cess is likely to be implemented in this rail budget.
