New Delhi: Earnings of Railways during the first 10 days of this month have registered a growth of 16.63 percent as compared to the same period in 2011.
   
"The earnings between April 1-10 were Rs 3099.82 crore compared to Rs 2657.79 crore during the same period last year, registering an increase of 16.63 percent," said a government statement here.
   
It said total passenger revenue earnings during the said period also went up at Rs 793.65 crore compared to Rs 738.47 crore during the same period last year, an increase of 7.47 percent.
   
The number of passengers booking tickets during this period were 230.93 million as compared to 219.91 million during the same period in 2011.
   
In the suburban and non-suburban sectors, the numbers of passengers booked were 122.58 million and 108.35 million respectively, the statement said.
