New Delhi: Railways have decided to increase surcharge levied on passengers travelling to Kumbh Mela.
     
For the ordinary second class, the surcharge has been revised from Rs 3 to Rs 5 while for AC first class, the same has been revised to Rs 20 from existing Rs 15.
     
The surcharge hike will be implemented from January 1, 2013, said a senior Railway Ministry official.
     
The surcharge will be applicable to all Kumbh Mela-bound trains.
     
Railways, however, have not hiked the surcharge in the sleeper class. It has remained unchanged at Rs 5.
     
The AC Chair Car and AC 3 class surcharge has been revised from Rs 7 to Rs 10 and AC 2 Class has seen the increase from Rs 10 to Rs 15.
