New Delhi: Here is a bonus for passengers of Shatabdi Express who have to catch a connecting flight from New Delhi. In a novel project, Indian Northern Railways under a value added service is contemplating to directly supply the luggage of such passengers at the airport.

The Railways have invited tenders for the proposed service which will cost a marginal amount to the passengers. The rate to be charged from the passengers will depend on the bids made by the private companies.

The service will be applicable at the New Delhi railway station. Under the value added service, an employee of the private company will collect the luggage of Shatabdi passengers at railway station. Thereafter, the luggage would be handed over to the passenger at the check-in point of Delhi Airport.

To avail the service, Shatabdi passengers would be required to notify their flight details at the time of booking the railway ticket.

Shailendra Kumar Sharma, Chief Public Relations Officer, Northern Railways said, “This facility will be provided under value added service, whereas on an additional payment the passengers will also be given the luxury of hotel booking and internet facilities.”
