He said usually a party which is in power win the local body elections and this is what has happened in these elections despite efforts of the Opposition party, which had won three out of four assembly seats in the bypolls held in September this year.
"We accept the people's mandate but such results were not expected," he told reporters at the party headquarters. "In bypolls, people expressed their faith in Congress and voted against the state government’s working...," he said.

Pilot said the vote share of the party has, however, increased as compared to the assembly and Lok Sabha Polls. "The hard work of Congress men will not go waste and the party would be successful in the upcoming panchayat polls," he said.

"People in the civic polls voted looking to BJP rule in the state and at the Centre. However, it is true that one year of BJP government in Rajasthan is not appreciable," Pilot said, adding a review of the defeat would be done within the party.
