Jaipur: Rajasthan Congress chief Dr. Chandrabhan on Tuesday said that the party would prefer to field more women candidates in the upcoming Rajasthan assembly elections.

Addressing a meeting of the office bearers of the Women’s Wing of the state unit of the party, Chandrabhan asserted that his party has always been in favour of Women’s reservation and has implemented the same within the party.

“I have clearly said that party executives in different blocks will not be made functional if women’s participation is less,” he said.

However, Chandrabhan refrained from assuring 33 percent tickets to women in the next assembly polls but emphasised that the party will give more tickets to women than earlier.

“Women chairman elected in local body and Panchyat polls mainly belonged to political families” he said.
