Jaipur: The Rajasthan High Court on Friday fixed March 5 for hearing the petition against Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi for his alleged defamatory remarks on the country's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru.

Appearing for Modi, state BJP vice-president, Omkar Singh Lakhawat on Friday filed a petition before the bench of Justice Mahesh Sharma seeking relief against the charges. Soon after the petition was filed, the court fixed March 5 as the next date for the hearing.

The petition, filed by a Youth Congress leader last year, has alleged that Narendra Modi while addressing a public rally had said that Jawaharlal Nehru did nothing for the children and therefore , he must not be called ‘Chacha Nehru’.

After the news was reported in media, the petitioner filed a defamation suit with the chief judicial magistrate which was rejected by the court on August 7, 2010. He filed an appeal in the court of ADJ which was again rejected and he subsequently moved the HC.
