Jaipur: Staying the state government decision providing reservation for people hailing from economically weaker section and backward classes including Gujjars, the Rajasthan High Court on Tuesday deferred it till next hearing.

Taking cognizance of the letter written by some students, the division bench of Chief Justice Jagdish Bhalla and Justice M N Bhandari observed that the reservation provided to Gujjars and economically weaker sections by the state government does not comply with the legal provisions given the Supreme Court order on it.

The court has sought reply from the government in this regard within 15-days.

It is to be noted that the state government had passed a bill providing for 5 percent and 14 percent reservation for Gujjars and economically weaker sections.
