Speaking at a high-level meeting attended by head of all departments here, Rajasthan State Election Commission (RSEC) Commissioner Ramlubhaya said the dates for the three-phase polls for Panchayati Raj Institutions will be announced any time after December 20, an official spokesman said.
The Commissioner said the polls, due in January 2015, will be held in three phases and will end by February first week, the spokesman said.
According to him, Ramlubhaya said that the notification for the polls will be made public in the first week of January.
Out of the 33 districts, the polls will be conducted through EVMs in 16 districts while ballot paper will be used in the remaining districts, he said.
The spokesman said Special DGP (Law and Order) Navdeep Singh said there was no dearth of policemen to hold free and fair polls in the state.
The DGP said the Assembly, Lok Sabha and civic body polls were held in a very peaceful manner and the same modus operandi would be applied for the panchayat polls.
The meeting also discussed issues related to vehicle availability and placement of observers and police force during the poll process.
Panchayat polls would be held to elect members of Zila Parishad, Panchayat Samiti, Panch, Sarpanch, Pradhan, Deputy Pradhan in a phased manner.
