Of the total samples taken for tests, 49 patients had been found swine flu positive since January 2014 in the state, a senior official of the Medical and Health Department said quoting a state medical report.

So far, H1N1 has claimed 25 lives in the state which include one death in August, he said.

High humidity during rainy season was a major reason for the spread of H1N1 virus, he said.

In September, out of the 19 samples taken for test, one patient was found positive, he added.

A comparative study on this subject is being worked out district-wise, he said.

Talking about the surveillance programme, the official said Integrated Disease Surveillance programme was effectively being extended in the entire state, especially during monsoon season, as a preventive measure to control the spread of vector due to high humidity or water accumulation.
