Jaipur: The Rajasthan government has announced a relief package of Rs 200 crore for the farmers. Due to the cold wave and frost in the state crops got destroyed in the winter season incurring heavy loses to farmers.

The decision came after a meeting of the Disaster Management Authority in the presence of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Saturday.

According to official sources, those farmers whose 50 percent of the crops got destroyed will be provided with the relief package. It is to be noted that cold wave and frost does not feature in the government’s list of natural calamities.  However, the state government is pressing the Centre to include cold wave and frost in the scheduled list.

In the absence of any help from the Central Government to the farmers, the state has announced a relief package in order to meet the losses.

The farmers will be provided with agriculture input subsidy as per the parameters of SDRF.
