Jaipur: Rajasthan will soon be included among the top states producing solar energy, as it has planned to develop an additional capacity of 3000 MG solar energy by 2017-18, and to earn a revenue of at least Rs 20,000 crore.

The state cabinet meeting held under Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot here on Wednesday, gave nod to this proposal. The state is expected to invite an investment of Rs 15,000 crore for the solar energy production of 15,000 MW.

In order to encourage the solar energy production in the state, the government has decided to allocate land on subsidized rates, besides setting up a fund to encourage its production.

In the meeting it was also decided that the officials of All India Services and the gazzetted officers posted in the state would declare their assets.

Officers failing to declare their assets would not get Vigilance clearance and will be deprived of their promotion, the cabinet decided.

Further, the meeting also resolved to form a finance commission for Panchayatiraj institutions under the chairmanship of former minister Dr BD Kalla.
