"I discussed with the senior police officials about how we can modernise Delhi Police to tackle the law and order problems in the national capital,” Singh told reporters after a meeting with Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi.

The Home Minister said the Centre would provide all help to the Delhi Police in its ‘modernisation programme’.

The police in Delhi, which is a Union Territory, works under the administrative jurisdiction of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Singh further said the Delhi Police needs the support of the government to emerge as a more efficient and responsible force.

"The Delhi Police needs to emerge as a more efficient and responsible police force but I feel for that the Delhi police needs more support from the government," said Singh.

"The Delhi Police is making its best efforts in maintaining law order in the capital and if they get the desired support from the government, I am sure they will become more efficient," he added.
