Lucknow: Responding to media queries about the fate of party president, senior BJP leader Rajnath Singh on Saturday said that Nitin Gadkari will get a second term and rubbished the claims of infighting in the party.

In recent times, senior party leaders like Ram Jethmalani, Shatrughan Sinha and Yashwant Sinha opened a frontal attack on Gadkari demanding that he should step down after facing serious corruption charges. The party suspended the senior lawyer and Rajya Sabha MP Ramjethmalani for demanding Gadkari’s resignation.

Currently, Gadkari is facing allegations of corruption and wrongdoings by his company Purty.

The Ghaziabad MP further attacked the UPA government on the issue of cash subsidy claiming it to be a politically motivated step in the wake of Gujarat elections. “The Congress continues to hide its failures by implementing anti-public policies,” Rajnath added.

On Friday, senior BJP leader LK Advani met the Chief Election Commissioner terming the move as violation of model code of conduct. Notably, four districts in Gujarat have been selected under the cash subsidy programme.
