Speculations were rife in the media that Nitin Gadkari could once again be made the BJP president after the Lok Sabha elections.

However, a leading news channel has now claimed that sources in the saffron party have denied Gadkari taking over as the BJP president.

BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi and Rajnath Singh had met the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leaders before the last phase of Lok Sabha elections on May 12, fuelling speculations that there might be organizational changes in the saffron camp.

Both Gadkari and Rajnath have been associated with the RSS in the past and the duo has the backing of the Sangh’s top leadership.
