Firozepur: The railway authority in Punjab has beefed up security arrangements in the view of the state level bandh called on Wednesday to protest the execution of Balwant Singh Rajoana, the Babbar Khalsa International terrorist sentenced to death in the 1995 assassination of then Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh.

The sources said that the Railway department has formulated a special roadmap to ascertain safety and security of the rail passengers. State police and GRP personnel in large numbers will be deployed at all the railway stations. Besides security arrangements at the up and down trains, the security arrangements for the freight trains have also been tightened.

As the trains and railway stations are the soft targets of the protestors, the state administration has decided to continue the security arrangements and monitoring of the suspicious movements till March 31, the day of execution of the 1995 assassination accused, Rajoana.

A senior safety commissioner of Firozepur Railway Union (RPF), Alok Kumar said, “Even if no group has declared of any form of agitation leading to interruption of rail traffic but we are ready with the safety measures.
