Jammu: Residents of Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district on Saturday distributed sweets among themselves as they celebrate 'Rajouri Freedom day' with fervor and gaiety.

Though army has been celebrating this day since 1948, when the border town was freed from the Pakistani troops, it was for the first time that common people also celebrated the day.

BJP also organised a special function in Rajouri town to mark the occasion. Demanding a special holiday for Rajouri on this day, BJP leader Vibodh Gupta said the state government must take a special initiative in this regard and give the day a special status.
