New Delhi: A delegation-led by Lok Janshakti Party president Ram Vilas Paswan on Tuesday met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and submitted a memorandum to him over illegal arrest of people hailing from Muslim community in the name of terrorism, putting them in jails for no reason and their rehabilitation.  

Holding similar views with the MPs, the Prime Minister said, “The government will soon constitute a mechanism to stop arresting innocent youth, providing justice to them and their rehabilitation. Manmohan Singh assured the delegation that he will talk to the Home Minister in this regard.

Hundreds of people-led by LJP’s Youth Wing general secretary Amanullah Khan had been on hunger strike for the last one week at Batla House over unlawful arrest of Muslim youth.  

Khan demanded that a fast track court be constituted for speedy trial of arrest of innocent people. If a court acquits the accused, the government should provide jobs and make arrangement for their rehabilitation added the LJP leader.

After getting assurance from the Prime Minister, the delegation requested the people to end fast. Ram Vilas Paswan offered juice to Khan to end the fast. On the occasion, Paswan said that I have faith in the government that it will ensure the release of innocent people. Addressing the crowd, Rajya Sabha MP Md Adeeb said that the PM has assured to take concrete step over the unlawful arrest of Muslim youth.
