One of the youngest states of the country, Chhattisgarh is going to celebrate foundation day ceremony – Chhattisgarh Rajyotsava – 2014 -- from November 1 to 3 at Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee premises in  Naya Raipur.

In the last 14 years, Chhattisgarh had taken a great leap forward in many fields including agriculture, irrigation, education, health, public distribution system, industry, business and infrastructural development, Singh said.

It was the first state to ensure food security to poor and to empower the youth with legal right of skill development in a trade of their choice, he noted.

It was also the first and the only state with no load-shedding, an official statement quoted him as saying.

Singh noted that former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee was instrumental in the creation of Chhattisgarh.

Chhattisgarh was carved out from Madhya Pradesh in November 2000 by the Vajpayee-led NDA government.

The three-day-long Rajyotsav will showcase varied traditional and cultural heritage of the state.
