New Delhi:  Having created much hype about the anti-black money movement, Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev and his close aide Balakrishna seems to look the other way when it comes to investigations in cases lodged against them.

Ramdev booked for alleged foreign exchange violations under Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) and his aide Acharya Balakrishna held under Section 12 of Indian Passport Act for furnishing fake documents for procuring a passport has remained loath in appearing before the investigating agencies time and again.

Talking about Balakrishna, a senior CBI official said “He was asked to submit his original documents in July only and he accepted to submit the same on time. But soon after he was relieved by the Nainital High Court, he changed his stand.”

The documents provided by Reserve Bank and Punjab National Bank to Enforcement Directorate (ED) are establishing Ramdev guilty of foreign exchange violations to the tune of more than Rs 1.5 crores.

ED had asked Ramdev to submit related documents in original by sending him a notice. But he sought one month time to submit the same on the pretext of his anti-corruption and anti-black money drive ‘Swabhiman Yatra’.

“Baba Ramdev has taken the help of his Swabhiman Yatra to avoid the investigations of ED”, said a senior official, adding “ED is taking legal advice to proceed the investigations in Ramdev’s case.”
