Ranchi: A joint team of CBI from Odisha and Jharkhand on Tuesday unearthed an interstate placement racket running into few crores in the capital on Tuesday. The CBI also arrested one person in this connection. The arrested person has been identified as PV Satyawati, Group C employee of Hatia railway station.

She was arrested from her rented accommodation at Badri Narayan Gali on Ratu Road. As per the information, Ratnesh, her close aide, is absconding. He is said to be a doctor at Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Ranchi.

The CBI officials said that the agency -- PSR Solutions -- offered youths, mostly students from Bihar, Jharkhand and Odisha, railway jobs. They used to convince victims that the placements would be made under VIP quota and no written test or interview would be conducted.

The racket, active in the region for six years, was brought to the notice by a Odisha couple. At least, 10 to 20 passbooks of different banks, cheques, blank cheques signed by students were seized during the raids.

The agency is also probing role of other railway employees in the racket.
