According to reports, Pradeep Sarkar’s film Mardaani started on a sluggish note Friday with the business of only Rs.3.50 crore. The film showed decent growth on Saturday and grossed around Rs4.7 cr. The business of the movie spiked on Sunday and it managed to earn Rs 5.5 crore at the box office, bringing the total weekend collections to Rs 13.71 crore.

The movie, produced by Aditya Chopra under the Yash Raj banner, has been released in around 1300+ screens and has garnered about 20-25% occupancy level on average. The film was reportedly best in Mumbai, Delhi city, East Punjab, Kolkata and Bangalore while the rest did not really perform.

The movie has received adulation from bollywood as well as political fraternity. Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh even announced to give 'Mardaani' a tax-free status in the state.
