Thalassery (Kerala): Opener A Bali's brilliant 120 helped Himachal Pradesh score a healthy 243 for two in their first innings against Kerala on the opening day of their Ranji trophy Plate Group 'A' match here on Tuesday.

At draw of stumps P Dogra was not out on 59 and S Sriram on 5.

Electing to bat, Bali shared two century partnerships for the opening and second wickets with Paul Valthaty and Dogra to take Himachal Pradesh to the commanding position at stumps on the first day.

Bali and Valthaty stitched 103 runs for the first wicket before the former was dismissied LBW by Sanuth for 56.

Dogra then joined Bali and the two scored runs at will to add 128 runs for the second wicket before the former was caught by Jagadeesh of Rohan Prem for 120, which was laced with 11 boundaries.

Bali crossed 500 runs in first class matches when he reached 43.

Respectable score for Tripura

Host Tripura scored a respectable total against Services in the first innings on Tuesday of the four-day Ranji Trophy Plate Group match at the Maharaja Bir Bikram Stadium in Agartala.

Elected to bat, opener Subhrajit Roy and lower order batsman Tushar Saha batted patiently to put Tripura in a decent score of 242 runs at stumps on the opening day on Tuesday.

Earlier, hosts fell in deep trouble by losing four wickets with 45 runs on the board.

Shubhrajit missed his century scoring 85 runs (288 minutes, 170 balls and 13 fours).

Besides Shubhrajit, Tushar Saha made 30 (69 minites, 53 balls and 3 fours) and Debabrata
Chowdhury scored 26 runs.

For Services, Suraj Yadav and Muzzaffaruddin Khalid both took 3 wickets conceding 97 and 45 runs respectively.
