Nagpur: Century  each from Ranjit Paradkar 178 not out (23x4, 2x6)t and Shalabh Shrivastav 104(16 x4) ensured hosts Vidarbha pile up a mammoth first innings score of 557 for seven declared against Kerala in the Ranji trophy plate group match at the end of the second day's play at the VCA civil lines, here on Saturday.

Resuming at the overnight score of 274 for four wickets Shalabh (84 not out) duly completed his first Ranji trophy century with a well struck cover driven four of Parmeshwaran with Ranjit Paradkar keeping him company.

Shalabh soon departed not before the pair shared a 135 runs stand for the fifth wicket. New man Guarav Upadhaya (11) showed promised but disappointed also playing an verambitious
slog off persistent left arm spinner Prashant.

Paradkar was 47 not out overnight and survived once again on 61, as he was missed at slips, played sedately throughout and held the innings together. He later shared a 117 runs seventh wicket stand with skipper Sairaj Bahatule (61 retd. hurt) before the latter opted for the pavalion with cramps.

Ranjit also  in the process completed his well deserved hundred, second of his career and found all rounder Shrikant Wagh (24) providing him company as the home team passed the 450 mark. Ranjit played some well timed drives and also hit two sixes off spinners  during his long stay.

Kerala spinner P Prashant who toiled through the day on a lifeless track trapped Wagh to claim his fifth wicket for 106 runs.

Paradkar maintained the tempo through the day and along with debutant Shasliesh Bondekar (27 not out) helped the home side pass the 550 mark to eventually declare at 557 off 171 overs.

Kerala in reply were 24 without loss with Abhishek Hegde 05, and A Jagdeesh 19 remaining unseparated off remaining seven overs.

Kerala batsman need to bat through their skin on the crucial third day if they fancy gaining the vital first innings lead.
