Lucknow, Jan 24 (Agencies): Irked over the CB-CID inquiry which nailed the BSP MLA Purshottam Dwivedi in a rape case, his family members on Monday staged a dharna  demanding a judicial probe into the case.

"The inquiry has been one-sided and done in a hurry as the CB-CID probing team came out with the conclusion of finding him guilty of rape, without even talking to any of the people connected with her in different villages, where she had stayed in the past two years," Mayank Dwivedi, son of the jailed MLA from Naraini said.

Mayank, and his mother Asha Devi, besides other supporters, who have had some connection with Sheelu, the victim, alleged that political adversaries of the MLA have won over her (Sheelu's) brother with money and are out to harm him.

"Some people in the opposition parties like Samajwadi Party and the Congress, who do not want Brahmins to get associated with the BSP, besides some anti-Brahmins within the BSP could be behind the case," Mayank said.

"The entire family was present in the house when Sheelu has alleged that she was raped and this is totally illogical," Asha Dwivedi said.

The family would be submitting a memorandum demanding justice for Dwivedi to the Governor and Chief Minister through senior officials later in the day.

The 17-year-old victim was allegedly raped by the BSP MLA of Naraini in Banda in December last year. After the girl threatened to file a complaint against him, he leveled charges of theft against here.
