Ambala: The Indian Railways has once again altered and modified the rules of travel for the passengers and made them stricter.

According to the new rules, Ration card or bank passbooks will not be considered as valid ID-proofs for e-tickets of sleeper class and AC category. The Railway board has issued circulars in this regard.

The new rules will come into effect from January 15.
Apart from this, photographs on ration card and passbooks will also not work.

In case, sleeper class tickets are being issued from computerised booking centre of railways, ration card and bank passbook will be considered as valid ID proofs only if a verified copy of it will be produced before gazetted officer, station master or chief reservation supervisor.

Public relation officer of Northern Railways, Neeraj Sharma informed that ration card or bank passbook will not be sufficient for the travel in 3rd class and 1st class AC.
