Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Irrigation and Public Health (IPH) minister Ravinder Singh Ravi, whose Thural assembly constituency has been scrapped in delimitation, on Saturday said if the party high command wants he would prefer to contest assembly polls from any constituency in his home district of Kangra.

Talking to media persons, he avoided questions about the particular seat from where he was keen to contest and said it was for the high command to decide but his preference was to contest from Kangra.

A major portion of Ravi’s constituency has been transferred to Jaisinghpur constituency which has been reserved for Scheduled Caste and he is in search of some adjoining constituency to contest the next elections.

Earlier, Ravi had shown inclination to contest from Jwalamukhi, now represented by Food and Civil Supplies Minister Romesh Dhawala, a loyalist of former chief minister Shanta Kumar, but his claim was opposed by the sitting member who refused to contest from any other constituency.
