The Chief Minister has also asked officials to put all necessary arrangements in place to ensure smooth operation of the scheme from which 65 lakh card holders across the state will benefit, Rawat's media in-charge Surendra Kumar said here on Wednesday.

"People who don't come under the ambit of the scheme will be covered under a separate state food security scheme," Kumar said, quoting the Chief Minister.

The National Food Security Scheme was implemented in the state on Tuesday. Secretary food and civil supplies Ravinath Raman said the Centre will provide 5.30 lakh metric tonnes of food grains to the state per annum under the scheme.
Card holders will get wheat at the rate of Rs 2 per kg and rice at the rate of Rs 3 per kg under the scheme, he said. The state government will launch a state food security scheme for those not covered under the central scheme under which they will get 10 kgs of wheat at the rate of Rs 6.10 per kg and five kgs of rice at the rate of Rs 8.45 per kg every month, Raman said.
