"The RBI will shortly issue Rs 10 denomination banknotes incorporating rupee symbol on the observe and reverse, with inset letter 'R' in both the numbering panels...and with inset letter 'L' in both the numbering panels in the Mahatma Gandhi Series-2005," RBI said in a release on Saturday.
The banknotes will bear the signature of Governor Raghuram G Rajan and the year of printing '2013' printed on the reverse of the banknote, it added.

RBI said that the design of these notes to be issued now will be similar in all respects to the Rs 10 banknotes in Mahatma Gandhi Series-2005 issued earlier. "All the banknotes in the denomination of Rs 10 by the bank in the past will continue to be legal tender," it added further.
