Jammu: Amidst tussle over the period of yatra between Amarnath Shrine Board and Hindu organizations, the registration for annual Amarnath Yatra began on Tuesday and as many as 603 devotees got their registration done on the very first day.

The Amarnath Shrine Board in its meeting had decided to continue the yatra for one-and-half-month while Baba Amarnath and Baba Budha Amarnath Yatri Nyas criticized the board for not beginning the yatra on June 15, and started the registration process on their own.

The Nyas has announced to commence its batch for yatra on June 15, and installed separate counters for registration in the selected branches of the banks of Jammu and Kashmir Bank, Yes Bank and Bihar District Co-operative Bank.

The Amarnath Shrine Board is also starting Amarnath yatra from June 29 which will conclude on August 13. In Jammu, for the registration of yatra counters have been installed in the three branches of J&K Bank.

About 603 pilgrims got registered with Tourist Reception Centre (TRC), Gandhi Nagar and Bakshi Nagar, out of which, 192 and 411pilgrims will go through Baltal and Pahalgam routes respectively.

J&K Bank will register 2,12,000 pilgrims through its counter while 46,000 pilgrims will get themselves registered through online. The quota will be increased if necessary.
