Jammu: The registration of pilgrims for the annual Amarnath Yatra scheduled to commence from March 18 from over 400 designated bank branches.
The process started for both the pilgrimage routes Baltal and Chandanwari through 422 bank branches of Jammu and Kashmir Bank, State Bank of India, YES Bank, HDFC Bank and Punjab National Bank across the country.
Jammu and Kashmir Governor and Shri Amarnath Shrine Board chairman N N Vohra has said all pilgrims possessing valid registration will be provided an insurance cover of Rs one lakh against accidental death within the state during the yatra period.
SASB Chief Executive Officer Navin K Choudhary said the insurance cover will be available to all registered yatris for the period commencing a week ahead of the pilgrimage and ending a week after the conclusion of the yatra.

The CEO requested all pilgrims not to embark on the yatra without obtaining valid registration. "It is in the interest of all pilgrims to undergo a proper medical checkup before registering themselves for which elaborate arrangements have been made by the Shrine Board.
"Possession of a valid yatra permit will also enable the pilgrims to be covered by the accident insurance," the CEO said.
