New Delhi: Taking a cue from the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), the Delhi High Court has instructed all the public authorities to formulate a set of rules which would be mandatory for the contractors to register their workers with the Labour Welfare Board.

A bench of Justice Deepak Mishra and Justice Sajeev Khanna has instructed MCD, DDA, PWD, CPWD and DIAL to put a condition for its contractors that the registration of labourers will be obligatory, so that they could get minimum wages along with other benefits.

The bench has ruled it after taking the note of the DRMC’s move that has made it essential for its contractors to register their workers.
