Patna: Renowned Urdu laureate and ex-chairman of Bihar Universities (Constituent Colleges) Commission Wahad Ashrafi on Sunday died at Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS) in Sheikhpura in Patna after prolonged illness.
Ashrifi (76) is survived by his widow and four sons.
He was dean of department of Urdu in Ranchi University and author of more than three dozen books.
He was also recipient of several national and international awards.
Meanwhile, RJD supremo Lalu Prasad, Secretary General Ramkripal Yadav, JD(U) leader Aslam Azad condoled his death.
