Lucknow: The announcement of third list of candidates for the upcoming UP Assembly polls has irked several Congress leaders which has affected the party’s public campaign starting on Indira Gandhi birth anniversary in the state.

On November 14, Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi in Jhusi had given the responsibility to 10 teams to flag off the campaign on November 19. But state president, Rita Bahuguna Joshi, was not able to reach Lucknow for launching the campaign due to the disgruntled leaders in the party.

In the wake of resentment in the party following the method adopted for the distribution of tickets, a question is being raised over the success of ‘Mission 2012, opine political experts.

Rahul himself is going to handle the situation as he sensed trouble in the organization may hamper the political interests of the party. During his 5-day road show starting from Barabanki, the Gandhi scion would not just interact with people, but will also try to strike a chord with the block and district level workers of the party.

Rita Bahuguna Joshi said that Rahul’s rallies will start from Barabanki to pass from districts like Bahraich, Balrampur, Gonda and Shravasti and reach Kushinagar. A mass public gathering would be held on the final day of the yatra.

In between, three more public rallies would be organized, she added.

During his mass contact programme, Rahul would just not attend the meetings to woo the masses but would also try to persuade the irked party workers. He would also meet local media persons during his dinner.

Meanwhile, Rita Bhahuguna has made it clear that once the Parliamentary Board of the party gives the final nod, there would be no change in the list announced for candidates.
