Considering the growing clout of China in Sri Lanka where the dragon nation has recently started developing another port in highly important Indian Ocean, the return of these fishermen has shown that the NDA Government's foreign policy and two-track diplomacy are far better than erstwhile UPA government.

Five fishermen -- Emerson, P Augustus, R Wilson, K Prasath and J Langlet --  from Tamil Nadu were sentenced to death in Sri Lanka for alleged drug trafficking. They were set free after Rajapaksa pardoned them. All the fishermen arrived on Thursday.

This was not the first instance when Modi government's diplomatic efforts have made the country proud and also provided relief to victims and their families.

Earlier, the External Affairs Ministry of the Modi government has managed to bring back Indian nurses from the strife torn Iraq. The nurses were trapped in Iraq while working at various hospitals.

Besides that the Indian Government had also made sure that more than 10,000 Indians return safely to their home.

By inviting SAARC nations head at the swearing-in ceremony and later by choosing Bhutan for his first foreign visit, PM modi has made it clear that he will leave no stone unturned to make India a leader of South Asian region.

Soon after his visit to Bhutan, Modi visited Nepal to strengthen India's position in Himalayan nation. It may be noted that Nepal is a buffer state between two powerful countries--India and China. Besides that Modi's visit to Nepal and offering huge developmental package has also tilted the situation in India's favour where China had increased its strength in last one decade.

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj also visited Myanmar and Bangladesh which strengthen India's position in SAARC nations and also improved the bilateral relations with these two nations.
